Vinnytsia, also referred to as Vinnytsya, Vinnitsa or Vinnica is a city located on the banks of the Southern Buh River, in central Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Vinnytsia Oblast, as well as the administrative center of the surrounding Vinnytsky Raion within the oblast. |

The city dates back to the fourteenth century and is located on the Southern shores of the Buh, approximately 160 miles from Kyiv. City residents have fought of Polish opposition in the past and in the late eighteenth century the city fell to Russian rule.
